Who we are
Worth Watching (worthwatchingbook.com) is the website for the book Worth Watching by Ray S. For anything about your data, email worthwatchingbook@gmail.com.
The short version
- We don't sell your data, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- We only email you if you ask to be emailed, and every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- Buying the book on Payhip does not sign you up for the newsletter.
Newsletter
What we collect: your email address, the page you signed up from, and a record of your consent: the date and time you confirmed and the IP address you confirmed from. We keep the consent record so we can show you asked to be added.
What you'll get: new free tools and creator guides as they launch, plus occasional book news. A couple of emails a month at most.
How it works: after you sign up, we email you a confirmation link. You're only added once you tap it. If you don't, nothing else is sent.
Who processes it: our email service is Elastic Email, which stores the list and sends the emails for us. It also records whether emails were delivered, and may record whether they were opened or a link was clicked. We only use that to check our emails are arriving.
Leaving: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email, or email us. We'll stop sending right away and remove your details on request.
Buying the book
Purchases are handled by Payhip, which processes your payment and delivers the files. We receive the name and email address you give at checkout so we can deliver the book and support you. Payhip also passes buyers' email addresses to our email service (Elastic Email) so purchase-related messages can be handled in one place. A purchase is not consent to marketing emails: buyers are kept separate from newsletter subscribers, and you only get the newsletter if you choose to join it.
This website
- Hosting: the site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, it processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
- Spam protection: signup forms and poll creation use Cloudflare Turnstile to check you're a person. It only loads when you start filling in a form or make a poll.
- Free sample: reading or downloading the sample doesn't require any personal information.
- Free tools: the tools run on your device. What you type or record stays in your browser (in My Studio) unless a tool clearly says otherwise. Hook polls and idea battles are the exception, explained below.
- Camera and microphone: the Teleprompter only uses them when you turn them on. The picture is shown on your screen, and a practice take stays in your browser until you download it or close the page. Nothing is uploaded.
- Mic Check: it listens only while a test or a scan runs. The sound is measured in your browser and kept on the page so you can play it back; it’s never uploaded or saved, and it’s gone when you close the page. Only the numbers are saved, in My Studio on your device.
- Shot List: sketches and photos you add to a storyboard stay in your browser. A link you send to a helper carries the shot list itself (the shots, not the pictures) inside the link, so we never store it, but anyone you give the link to can read it.
- Niche Pulse: this page shows public video information from YouTube, fetched by our server with the YouTube API Services. It never touches your YouTube or Google account and collects nothing about you. Video thumbnails load from YouTube's servers, so Google receives your IP address as it would for any image it hosts; see Google's Privacy Policy. YouTube content on that page is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. We keep the video information for at most 30 days, refreshing it weekly.
- Cookies: we don't set advertising or tracking cookies.
Hook polls and idea battles
If you make a poll in the Hook Checker or an idea battle in the Idea Scorer, we store your question and the options you put in it (for hooks, the spoken line and on-screen text; for ideas, the idea and its one point; never your scores or other notes) so your friends can vote. The poll's private key stays on your device; we only keep a scrambled copy of it, so only that device can see the reasons or delete the poll.
If you vote, we store your choice and any reason you type. Reasons are shown only to the person who made the poll. To stop repeat votes and spam, we also store a random ID saved in your browser and a scrambled code made from your IP address. The code can't be turned back into your address and is different for every poll.
How long: everything about a poll is deleted automatically 7 days after it's made, or straight away if its creator deletes it. Polls reported by several people are taken down. To report one, use the link on the poll page.
How long we keep it
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Unconfirmed signups are never added to the list. After you unsubscribe, the email service keeps your address on a do-not-email list so you aren't added back by mistake.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you, at any time. Email worthwatchingbook@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Age
The newsletter is for people 16 and older. The site isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell newsletter subscribers by email.
